Top Ten Tuesday #10 - Please write a sequel!

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. Each week they will post a new Top Ten list that one of our bloggers over at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join.

This week: Top Ten Five Books I Wish Could Have Had Sequels

1. Harry Potter. I could have read ten more books about him and his magical adventures:)

2. Delirium. If you've read Requiem you will probably know exactly why I want a sequel, or even an epilogue. Just give me some answers!

3. The Infernal Devices. Yes, I loved the epilogue of Clockwork Princess and I though it was a good ending, but I just want to know more about Tessa's modern life! And Jem :)

4. Unearthly. Please, Cynthia Hand, write a Christian spin-off or just something from his POV that gives me a hint of what happened to him! The development of his storyline was cut off abruptly at the end, not cool.

5. The Host. I heard rumours there was going to be a sequel of this book, but I haven't seen any official confirmation of this. I would love to know more about that new group they meet!

I have read a lot of series, some with good endings and other with less good endings.
The less good endings make you end up with questions and confused feelings, of those series I'd love a sequel.
The ones with good endings you would maybe want to know more about, just because they're so good, but a real sequel would be dragging the story out, which already happens a lot too often in book series.

I don't read a lot of standalones, most of those are classics. With those I never really have the feeling that I NEED a sequel, they are most of the time nicely closed off.

Leave me a link to your TTT in the comments!

  1. I know what you mean about the books not needing a sequel. The ones on my list are books that I would have liked to see continued, just so I could read about what happened to the characters after the story finished.

Apparently Meyer officially confirmed that she is writing more books for The Host series. But I don't know how they'll turn out, since it ended so well. I guess we'll just have to see!

  2. 'The Host' was probably the only book I would have had on my list had I made one. I don't feel like it needs a sequel or anything but I liked the characters and the world the lived in so it would be interesting. I'm also not sure I really want her to write more as 'Twilight' was meant to be a stand alone and I kind of think it should have ended there.

  3. Eveline like you I could read so much more of the Harry Potter series, I absolutely love the world that Rowling created!

Like you I had difficulties thinking of standalone books as most books nowadays are part of a series.

  4. I would LOVE a sequel to 'The Host'! I loved the book way before the film, but after reading/watching both, I want more! Amazing list! :)

  5. Need more of The Host..lol

Yes, lots more Harry Potter world please!

I debated putting The Infernal Devices on my list too, I'm still hoping they will show up in another of the Shadow Hunter series!

  6. I could read Harry Potter forever and never get bored, I swear! I'd love more of those books. I also had the Delirium series on my list for the same reasons. I needed more answers! Great list! :)

  7. I agree with your entire list! Requiem made my list too. That book...don't get me started. I need more! And yes, the ending of Boundless was great and wrapped everything up for certain people, but Christian? I need more! I'm thinking Tessa will show up in the new series, The Dark Artifices. And The Host, where are the next two books? I've seen their titles on Goodreads, but where are they? I think I read somewhere that Stephenie Meyer confirmed the sequel. She needs to stop touring and doing whatever else she is doing and get to writing. Great list! ~Pam

  8. Great post. I have read Delirium, but the other two books in the series weren't as great as the first one, in my opinion, so I don't need more sequels.

As to the Host, I really hope there'll be a sequel, but I think it will, at least according to Goodreads.

  9. I agree about a sequel on HP! I would love to read about Harry's kids, though it would be kind of silly if there was - I mean, something itneresting has to happen and if a new baddie or one of Voldemort's followers (if there were any left) went after Harry's son, then the series wouldn't be any different than any other YA spin-offs.

I hope we see Tessa and Jem in the last TMI book. EVen though it was just a clever and very transparent way to give everyone a happy ending, I still liked it because Jem and Will were both likable.

I'm not really interested in reading a sequel to The Host... I liked the book the way it was, surprisingly. And as for Christian... the Boundless's prologue was kind of enough for me, I guess. I never liked Christian anyway :D

    Great list!

  10. I think I need to read Unearthly. I bought a copy of boundless not realizing it was the last one... and my local bookshop only has the lastest instalments of books and not the first ones. It's irritating. But maybe I should just buy Unearthly online! Great list!

  11. Hm never thought about a sequel to The Host, but having just seen the movie, I think a sequel is needed.

  12. I want a spin off about Chrisitan too. Like you said, he was abruptly cut off and I don't like that.

  13. I agree, Requiem needs a sequel! Great list. :)

  14. I could also read 10 more books in the Harry Potter series. My love for this series knows no bounds.

  15. Yes, definitely The Host. I loved the ending, but it left me wanting so much more.

I don't know that I could have read any more HP books. I suppose a Next Generation type of thing would've been cool with new characters.. their children and what not.

  16. It would be amazing to get to read about Tessa and Jem's life! Or about Tessa's kids! Also, there could never be too many HP books. :)

    ReplyDelete
  17. Ha, HP would be awesome, and I will continue to hope, even though I don't think Rowling wants a bit of that. Also, I've heard Requiem sorely needs more!

    ReplyDelete
  18. The Host needs the sequel to be published already! The fans are way too impatient already. :D

  19. YES to more Harry Potter and MEH to The Host. I loved Meyers' adult book, and while the ending definitely left me wanting more, I'd be afraid for a sequel. I mean, look at how Twilight went. I think she should leave well enough alone.

  20. I've got THE HOST too, and YES, REQUIEM really needs some kind of followup, because I have no idea what happened. Thanks for stopping by!

  21. I haven't read The Host yet, but my sister has and she said the exact same thing as you!

  22. Definitely YES for The Host. I hope Meyer writes those sequels. Hopefully we'll get more of the Infernal Devices characters in the last TMI book. Oh Boundless, how I loathe that end. I've had to pretend it doesn't exist or I start to tear up again over how terribly Christian was treated. :(

  23. I agree with Delirium Trilogy. About TID, well, there will be more, not exactly the same. But TLH is coming so maybe we will see them again. About the Host. There are rummors (in Stephenie Meyer's blog) that there will be a sequel, so I pray that they are true. Great List!

  24. Of course I agree with Harry Potter!I haven't read The Host yet but I'm going to pick it up soon!!

  25. I could read endless amounts of HP books! The world is so charming and the characters are always wonderful. Agreed about THE HOST! :)

    Fabulous choices!

  26. I've only read HP from your list. A lot of people seem to have it. I guess I didn't include it because I thought the series ended perfectly. I do think that if she wrote a book or books about the Marauders, I would gladly pick them up. Do you think you'll buy the new HP Boxset edition with the new covers? Also you do have to read The Tenant of Wildfell Hall! It's one of my all time favourite classics!

  27. The Host is going to be a trilogy. The second book is The Seeker, I believe. I haven't read it yet and fell asleep during the film so I can't speak as to waiting for the next heh! And man, Requiem... the last third was underwhelming... even a novella would be nice.

Cheers for visiting my Top Ten this week.

  28. I felt cheated with Requiem. I would appreciate a legit ending. & CP2 hurt. I was Team Will and I'm a little bitter. Thanks for stopping by :)

  30. Oooo I'm reading Pandemonium right now. :) Not very far into it. Agreed about The Host. Stephenie Meyer needs to get back to writing. I didn't LOVE The Host, but I definitely want to see what's going to happen next.

Thanks for stopping by my TTT earlier.

  31. I'm seeing lots of HP, The Host and Requiem today! The Infernal Devices surprised me, though. I'm really hoping Tessa shows up in the final Mortal Instruments book since we had just a brief glimpse of her at the end of City of Glass. It would be nice to tie everything together with City of Heavenly Fire.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Oh, I hope that too, that'd be so awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Well, the movie of the Host was much less good than the book in my opinion, so I wouldn't stripe it off your TBR list just yet;)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yes, some spin-offs or short stories would be awesome! No, although I do love the new covers I already own a HP boxset;)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yes, yes, yes! I just want to know what happened to Christian, is that too much to ask :(

    ReplyDelete
  36. I feel the exact same about all of these series! (minus Unearthly, because I haven't finished that yet, but I'm sure I'll probably want more!).

I want to know about Tessa & Jem's modern life as well, and actually get to see them happy. I'm really disappointed that there hasn't been a sequel for The Host yet, I'd love to see what was going to happen next!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I completely forgot about TID!!! :( I remember finishing reading Clockwork Princess, and thinking, 'What am I going to do with my life now?'
At least Cassandra Clare will be releasing out another series, I think, about Tessa's children?
