Partials - Dan Wells [Review]

Title: Partials
Author: Dan Wells
Publisher: Balzer + Bray
Series: Partials #1
Release Date: February 28th 2012
Pages: 468
Rating: ★★★
The human race is all but extinct after a war with Partials—engineered organic beings identical to humans—has decimated the population. Reduced to only tens of thousands by RM, a weaponized virus to which only a fraction of humanity is immune, the survivors in North America have huddled together on Long Island while the Partials have mysteriously retreated. The threat of the Partials is still imminent, but, worse, no baby has been born immune to RM in more than a decade. Our time is running out.

Kira, a sixteen-year-old medic-in-training, is on the front lines of this battle, seeing RM ravage the community while mandatory pregnancy laws have pushed what's left of humanity to the brink of civil war, and she's not content to stand by and watch. But as she makes a desperate decision to save the last of her race, she will find that the survival of humans and Partials alike rests in her attempts to uncover the connections between them—connections that humanity has forgotten, or perhaps never even knew were there.

Vampire Academy Movie News Wrap Up

I absolutely loved the VA book series, so you can imagine how excited I was when they announced a VA movie. Meanwhile the filming has wrapped up and some lovely material has been released to the public. Time for a wrap up!

- The movie is going to be released at the 13th of February 2014 (USA).

- The official name is Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters. I'm not sure whether the movie is based on book 1 or multiple books.

- The official synopsis:
Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, half human/vampire, guardians of the Moroi, peaceful, mortal vampires living discretely within our world. Her legacy is to protect the Moroi from bloodthirsty, immortal Vampires, the Strigoi. This is her story.

- Big News: this week we got the first teaser trailer!

I'm not sure whether I liked the teaser. It was really confusing and if I hadn't read the books I wouldn't have a clue what the movie would be about. It looked like some kind of high school drama with vampires that turns really violent.

Hopefully the next trailer(s) will be better and more explanatory.

- Some promotional pictures.

Still of Sarah Hyland, Sami Gayle and Lucy Fry in Vampire Academy

Still of Cameron Monaghan and Zoey Deutch in Vampire Academy

Still of Zoey Deutch in Vampire Academy
I love Zoey Deutch as Rose, she looks almost exactly as I pictured her in the books.
The actress who plays Lissa (Lucy Fry) is not really how I pictured Lissa to be , but I'm sure she will do an excellent job. And I love how they actually cast a Russian actor for Dimitri, he definitely looks the part.

- A BTS photo of Rose and Dimitri

So sweet!

- And finally the movie poster.

Vampire Academy
I really like the emblem they designed. The poster may not give away anything about the story, but it looks interesting.

That's it for the wrap up. I can't wait for the movie to come out!

Follow IMBD and the VA Facebook for new photos and trailers.

And what about you? Are you excited for the movie? Is the movie a bit like you pictured it in the books so far?
