Feature and Follow Friday #7 - Bookshelf Tour

Feature and Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee. The goal is to meet new people and gain more followers in the book blogging community. If you would like to join in the fun just visit one of the host's blog for the rules.

Activity of the Week: Bookshelf Tour! Take us on a tour of your shelves.

I have four bookshelves in my room. Three are for my (YA) books and one for my studybooks.

I don't own a lot of physical books, since I mostly buy ebooks. Only my favourites I buy in physical form, keeps the shelves tidy:)

These are my books for my study English . Lots of heavy dictionaries and anthologies.

These are my three other shelves. You can see I love series! TMI, TID, HP, VA, THG, all on my shelves somewhere:)

My whole bookshelf :) Still some room for new favourites.

Feature and Follow Friday #6 - DNF?

Feature and Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee. The goal is to meet new people and gain more followers in the book blogging community. If you would like to join in the fun just visit one of the host's blog for the rules.

Question of the Week: How do you handle a book you don’t like? Do you DNF or do you power through?

Luckily I don't read too many books that I hate that much that I want to quit it. But, I always read for fun, so I don't obligate myself to drag through a book I don't like. I give a book 100 pages to interest me, after that I will quit the book. That doesn't mean I will never try it again, sometimes you just don't feel like reading about a certain subject.
My main DNF factors are irritating main characters, slow pace and no action, confusing story or stupid romances (instalove, love triangle..). My last DNF was Eragon, it was just too tedious.

Activity of the Week: Today’s (yesterday) is the US’ Independence Day. Share your favorite book with a war in it, or an overthrow of the government.

I really love dystopian books, most of which feature a fight against the evil government, which sometimes results in a war. But there are actually few books that feature an actual overthrow of the government. Most are just about escaping the control of the state or it's just about survival, there is almost never a real revolution. It's mostly a personal fight against the rulers.

The Hunger Games Series is the only one I can come up with with an overthrow, and it is also my favourite series, so that's good.
Maybe Divergent or Shatter Me in their last book? We shall see:)

I'd prefer it if you follow me via bloglovin', since GFC is stopping/has already stopped I don't know anymore.

Activity of the Week: What is your preferred reading format? Hardcover, eBooks, paperback etc?

I think Hardcover books are the most beautiful books, they look so luxurious! But they are mosst of the time too expensive for me.
I always buy ebooks first, they are less expensive than real paper books. Thus if I don't like the book, it does not cost me much. And if I really like a book, I buy the paperback version for on my book shelf.
I like reading ebooks and paperbacks both, I don't have a preference for one. Ebooks are very handy to take with you and they can't be damaged, but nothing can tip the feeling of a real book.

One must always be careful of books and what is inside them, for words have the power to change us.

Activity of the Week: Spine Poetry. Create a line of poetry with your book spines (take a picture). Not feeling creative? Tell us about your favorite poem.

A close up for if you can't read the titles:

The Poem:

Unravel me, pretty little liars.
Shatter me, beautiful creatures.
North and south, we wither.
Heart of darkness, wicked phantom killer.

I'm pretty bad at poems, so please don't laugh at me :)

This is my first #FF ever, I hope it's going to be fun!

This week's question:
Have you broken up with a series? If so which one and why?

Unfortunately, yes. There have been series that I quit before the end. Here are a few of them:

  • House of Night
  •  Sookie Stackhouse,
  • Fallen
  • Hush, Hush
These series were fun the first few books, but then they became boring, slow-paced and just not interesting. I might finish them some day, but not now. I have also read many first books of series that I just did not like and thus did not continue the series, but that would take ages to sum up:)
